THE TRUE COMPOSITION OF FAITH
Scripture declares:
“The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy” Rev 19:10.
Given then that Jesus’ testimony consisted of none other than a faultless walk of faith, we necessarily understand that the nature of such faith and the spirit of prophecy are in fact one and the same thing.
That is, our faith is not that which the existentialist would have us believe (it is not a human quality), but necessarily divine and irresistible revelation: it is in fact the spirit of prophecy and therefore none other than the Holy Ghost Himself.
Accordingly, note the following from an angel who, being in God’s presence, had no need of the existentialist's version of faith, but who nevertheless had the same testimony of Jesus which the apostle John possessed:
“And I [John] fell at his feet to worship him. And he [the angel] said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy” Rev 19:10.
Summary
The faith that we have is not of ourselves, but is in fact the spirit of prophecy and thus the Holy Ghost Himself.
This stands to good reason, for we are told that:
“faith is [(consists of)] the evidence of unseen things” Heb 11:1
and the only evidence of unseen things which can possibly be, is the (indwelling) Holy Ghost.
Amen.
