THE WORK WHICH PROVES OUR JUSTIFICATION BY FAITH
The legalist tells us he is justified by faith and not by works – that works merely prove he is justified by faith.
He will be correct provided that such works include the very special work which consists of the abandoning of his works which prove he is justified by faith. If he can to that work, he will have indeed performed a work which proves he is justified by faith.
"There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into [God's] rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from His" Heb 4:9,10.
Amen.
